Creating a smarter product to protect your medication Cold Storage
How listening to a user sparked new ideas for medication storage
Creating a new product that does something new and out of the ordinary, often stems from user discontent with the quid pro quo.

The staff manager had very forthright views regarding the way current manual procedures were failing to achieve intended purpose.
Safe cold storage of medications and foodstuffs in a Care environment is critical.
Regulatory procedures defined by DHBs some ten years previous, left a lot to be desired regarding acquisition and analysis of Cold storage temperature data. There was need to bring medication storage into line with modern Cold Chain operation. Random daily manual temperature checks were valid in their day. But effective new technologies were now making their mark in many high sensitive operations in different industries.
Dipping a thermometer into a fridge, writing the reading down in a log, once or twice a day was not going to cut the mustard.
Accuracy and timeliness is of an essence in critical temperature logging procedures like these.
The brief was succinct and to the point. No more staff involvement. No log books to find a home for. Data accurate and readily accessible. And fit for scrutiny by Audit.
New technology had to be assimilated for suitability. Exciting new platforms were available that could provide that forward thinking. Platforms that were finding new areas of productive application. Gathering lots of data with no human involvement.
Furthermore, these were intelligent IoT platforms that provided an opportunity to generate immediate statistics, alerts and more.
The challenge was there. Staff involvement is now on an alert only basis. Management are up to date. Accuracy and responses are now above par.
The result has been the implementation of an exciting new temperature monitoring platform that has enabled focussed staff involvement with just the occasional check-out call. State of fridge and freezer contents is vastly improved. Management involvement is minimised but always aware of daily operation.
Conclusion: Wayward Monitoring has eliminated old operational problems, and focussed staff and management on a productive way forward.
Do you currently operate in this environment? Does the above account strike a chord?
Wayward Monitoring is a product for its time.
